----------GA & SALVAGE SECURITY REQUIRED ----------

9 May 2025

* Following up on our last update about the container ship NCL SALTEN (IMO: 9252773), which ran aground at Byneset, Norway on 22 May 2025, it has been reported that the vessel was refloated on May 27. The vessel then proceeded to dock in Orkanger, Norway for cargo discharge and assessment and is now at Fosen Yard for repairs.

* The vessel reportedly suffered hull damage due to the grounding. Additionally, it is reported that the bridge navigation alarm system was switched off both before and during the incident.

* Salvage services were provided by professional salvors under LOF terms. As a result, Salvage Security, which is required at 25%, will now need to be provided by a party acceptable to the Salvors or the Council of Lloyd’s on behalf of cargo interests, and we may be able to assist in that regard. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd’s and widely preferred by professional salvors.

* General Average has also been declared by the owners. General Average security is required at 5% for cargo destined for Orkanger and 7% for cargo to other destinations. This will be required from all cargo interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we are likely able to assist in that regard as well.

*We have already been instructed by certain Cargo Insurers and we may therefore be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred in those regards.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
