--------------GA SECURITY REQUIRED-------------------

* Further to our recent reports concerning the grounding of the container carrier LODUR (IMO: 9219381), we have received the following information:

* We are advised that the owners have declared General Average as a consequence of the grounding.

* Consequently, General Average security, in addition to salvage security, will be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, and we may be able to assist in that regard.

* We are already instructed for certain cargo onboard the vessel and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred in handling this case, including investigative costs of the cause of the grounding.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

------------------UPDATE 1 ------------------

* Further to our initial report, it is reported that container carrier, LODUR ran aground in a position approximately 5 nautical miles off Freetown Container Terminal, Siera Leone on 16 May 2024.

* Initial attempts by the crew to refloat the vessel under its own power were unsuccessful.

* An advanced Salvage team has been deployed to the vessel and other salvage experts are currently being mobilised to attend the vessel.

* An initial underwater inspection of the vessel indicates that the vessel is aground on rocks and that 4 of the vessel's tanks have been breached as a result of the grounding.

* Shipowners entered into an agreement with professional salvors under LOF terms to assist to salvage the vessel and it is reported that SCOPIC has been invoked. Consequently, Salvage Security will be required to be provided by, or on behalf, of all Cargo Interests and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd's and widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* If General Average is declared, General Average security may also be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard also.

* Indeed, we are already instructed by certain insurers and we may be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred. Cargo surveyors are already on hand to assess any cargo damage, where necessary.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
