BARGE

* We have received reports that the towline of tug RESCO-5, broke off and the barge under tow subsequently ran aground near the cargo terminal of Kudankulam, India, on 6 September 2023.

* According to reports, the barge, which is aground on rocks, developed a heavy list and there is a danger the cargo is at risk of falling overboard.

* We understand that weather conditions in the area prevented early efforts to salvage the barge and its cargo.

* It is possible that General Average/Salvage and Recovery issues may arise as a result of this casualty.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
