----------------------Update 3-----------------------

25 May 2023

* We have received reports that the owners of containership, SHILING have now declared GA as a consequence of the engine failure on 15 April 2023 after sailing from Wellington, New Zealand.
* It is reported that the vessel has recently returned to Wellington as a port of refuge for repairs which once completed it will proceed to Singapore.

* General Average security will now also be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo, in addition to Salvage Security, and we are likely to be able to assist in that regard.
* We are already instructed by certain Cargo Insurers and we are currently seeking to agree the terms of the GA security to be provided with Average Adjusters. We may also be able to offer certain economies of scale in respect of any third party costs which may need to be incurred concerning the cause of the casualty.

* We recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.

------------------UPDATE 2------------------

19 May 2023

We have received the following further report concerning the engine failure of container ship, SHILING:

* It is reported that owners have entered into a salvage agreement with professional salvors, under the terms of a Lloyd's Standard Form of Salvage Agreement.

* The vessel was initially taken by tow from the casualty site to Tasman Bay, New Zealand where it has been anchored since. It is reported the vessel will be towed to Wellington, NZ for inspection and repairs once local weather conditions improve.

* Salvage security will be required to be provided by a party acceptable to the Salvors or the Council of Lloyd's in respect of the cargo stowed on board the vessel and W K Webster may be able to assist. Security provided by WKW is acceptable to the Council of Lloyd's and widely preferred by professional Salvors.

* If General Average is declared, General Average security may also be required from all Cargo Interests prior to the delivery of their cargo and we are also likely to be able to assist in that regard.

* We therefore recommend that you contact us urgently if you are concerned with any cargo on board this vessel at the time of this casualty so that we can immediately start taking steps to protect your interests.
